PPD42NS Fine Dust Sensor [Arduino Sensors for Everyone]

+

· Shinyei''s PPD42NS sensor measures fine dust concentration using the optical sensing method. It detects 1㎛ and ㎛ dust, and can be used by selecting one of two modes, PM or PM It measures by automatically inhaling air with a resistance heater.

Dust sensor for Arduino in open and windy environment ...

+

· A popular option is the Shinyei PPD42 sensor. There are a few welldocumented blogs that describe how to connect it to an Arduino. Some of the users determined that the sensors are more accurate when a fan is placed on the unit to blow air through it, but this might not be necessary in an outdoors and windy environment.

The ESP8266 comes in various packages ( ESP12, ESP07) but I bought the (pretty) bare package for less than US For this price, the ESP8266 (ESP01) has got 80 MHz CPU, 512KB program storage space, WiFi and ...

Air Quality Monitoring System with Particle Sensors and ...

+

· During the last holidays period I started to build an air quality monitoring system, an old personal project. I selected the particle sensor PPD42NS, Shinyei, due to its low cost and easy integration with Arduino boards. I also used a HUZZAH ESP8266 wifi module to send captured data to the cloud so I can monitor air quality remotely.

· Yes, I know, perhaps the there''s really no dust particles to sense? I think not. Because, occasionally, the sensor does register an appreciable count that''s nowhere near to zero. Now, I''ve found that if I move the sensor, or if I gently encourage some air to flow through/around the sensor, the sensor does register an appreciable count too.
