Care and Feeding of the Early "Closed Cooling System" By: Craig Houghtaling Photo: courtesy of Matt Tway When discussing the two types of cooling systems the XJ uses, the terms "open" and "closed" are actually reversed, but have come to be accepted that way among the XJ community, so in this article I will hold to them to avoid confusion.
· Recently picked up a fully dressed out of a 97 XJ with a reman 0630 head that has a port for the coolant temp sensor. Supposedly has blow by puffing out the dipstick tube, but I have time to fix this spare engine while getting the frame fixed on the truck, and with two engines the truck will still be mobile with the old engine in it.

The one in the head is for the temp gauge on the dashboard, the one on the side of the block is for the ECU. Which one are you asking about? On the HO engines, the temp sender is in the thermostat housing.

I have a 1990 jeep cherokee that sometimes will not start,the engine cranks over,but will not start. sometimes you can go days even weeks and will start no of the time when it won''t start you can try after about a half hour and it will time I spent all day tryin until I finally had it towed home, and it started right after it came off the tow truck.
