Take the electronics off the MAF and clean it with rubbing alcohol (with Q tip) or electronics cleaner (can be had from Radio Shack). You damage the element and the thing is toast. Becareful removing the electronics, don''t be rough with it.

15/1/2010· Brake and carb cleaner are too strong. It will either damage or leave a residue on the element. Just buy a can of the MAF/electircal cleaner. I would get the MAF cleaner, and you can use it on other electrical stuff. Better safe than buying a new MAF.

4/11/2018· Mass Airflow Sensor cleaning is very straight forward, simply soak the end of the cotton buds and wipe the wires. Be extremely careful when cleaning the wires, literally just use the weight of the cotton bud, simply rest the cotton bud on the sensor and turn it slowly.
4/5/2016· 53 years of experience. Yes, you can use a MAF cleaner on a throttle body, but you cannot use throttle body cleaner on a MAF. The MAFs are very particular. If you use the wrong kind of cleaner on the MAF sensor and it leaves a residue, it can burn a little wire if it’s a hotwire MAF sensor. But on the throttle body, it cleans it perfectly good.
